I just went and read the rest of the article. Excellent.
Teens will not act like responsible young adults when they are being told that it is normal and acceptable to have outbursts of emotion, bad attitudes,to sleep all day and stay up all night, ignore and rebel against their parents, etc.
Our oldest rebelled, and I can't tell you how many people tried to tell us that he was "just being a normal teenager" and that we were "expecting too much" or "that's just how they are at that age." It was very frustrating to turn to Christian friends for help only to have them talk just like the world. We ended up having to remove him from our home after a couple of violent episodes.

I was not a Christian until he was 8 years old, and sadly, he did not get the firm foundation that the other kids are/will be getting.
