In Memory of Our Miscarried Babies...

me·mo·ri·al n. Serving as a remembrance of a person or an event.

Our sweet 20 year-old daughter, Annalise, worked with our close friends (and photographer) to design this beautiful memorial piece of art, in memory of the seven babies we have parted with on this earth through miscarriage.

She decided to give her family this sweet remembrance on the day we had our yearly family photos taken, so the giving of this gift could also be documented in remembrance of those short-lived, but oh so precious lives! As we all read her sweet card to us, we remembered those we have said our temporary goodbyes to and cried.

The blue fabric and the white fabric on the cross was the same fabric used to wrap the tiny coffin of our 16 week old little Levi Samuel. Annalise took the fabric remnants and asked our friends, Steph and Sammy, to help design this precious memorial to Levi, Jordan and our 5 other babies who are now sitting in the very arms of Jesus!

"I will fulfill my vows to You, O God, and will offer a sacrifice of thanks for Your help. For you have rescued me from death; You have kept my feet from slipping. So now I can walk in Your presence, O God, in Your life-giving light." Psalm 56:12-13

"And if our hope in Christ is only for this life, we are more to be pitied than anyone in the world..." ~ 1 Corinthians 15:19

"Heaven is not here, it's There. If we were given all we wanted here, our hearts would settle for this world rather than the next. God is forever luring us up and away from this one, wooing us to Himself and His still invisible Kingdom, where we will certainly find what we so keenly long for." —Elisabeth Elliot

Such a sweet gesture by Annalise! Our hearts are so moved! We cannot wait to be reunited with our 7 precious children (and siblings) again in GLORY one day!

For those of you who have lost children through miscarriage or stillbirth or after birth, I encourage you to have a memorial of some type for your little ones. Don’t push back the tears and grief just because you know God is sovereign. He made us human. He made us to miss the lives that have gone on before us, knowing that He has those tiny lives in His hands! Grieving in our hearts is okay, as long as our heads know that death’s sting has been OVERCOME!

"Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" 1 Corinthians 15:55
